Uzbekistan gained a priceless win on the road in North Korea by the narrow scoreline of 1-0. A 25th minute goal by Alexander Geynrikh was the difference in the match.
It is a huge result for Uzbekistan, traveling to North Korea and getting three points is incredibly rare. In the previous qualifying cycle, North Korea was unbeaten at home.
For Geynrikh, it was his second goal of qualifying, he scored once versus Kyrgyzstan in the second round, and his 25th career international goal
The victory now moves Uzbekistan four points clear of North Korea for the second spot in group C. The two nations play again in November, this time in Uzebkistan, and a triumph there would qualify Uzbekistan for the next round.
