Kuwait, Lebanon Draw

Kuwait remained unbeaten in qualifying, coming back from a goal down twice to draw upstart Lebanon 2-2. The result leaves Kuwait still in second place in group B by one point over Lebanon.

The hosts Lebanon took a surprising lead when they won a penalty in the 15th minute. Hassan Maatouk stepped up and converted it to edge Lebanon ahead. Kuwait held most of the possession and create chances which resulted in them finally equalizing on a header by Musaed Neda at the far post.

Kuwait continued to be the better side, however in the 86th minute Lebanon was awarded another penalty. Maatouk was the man to take it and calmly sent the keeper the wrong way.

However, Lebanon could not hold on as Kuwait stormed back and drew level just two minutes later. A low cross was sent in and Mahmoud Younes could only turn the ball into his own net. Kuwait had two great chances to win the game in added time, but missed them both.

These two sides play next month in Kuwait where Lebanon needs a win to climb in front while a Kuwait victory allows them to breathe easier.
