South Korea Thrashes Lebanon

South Korea open its qualifying campaign in style with a 6-0 destruction of Lebanon. New Arsenal signing Park Chu-Young led the way with three goals of his own.

Chu-Young opened the scoring in the eighth minute when he volleyed a cross in with his right foot. He added his second just on the stroke of halftime, rising highest on a corner kick to the far post.

In the second half things really began to open up for the Koreans. Ji Dong-Won scored the first of his two goals in the 66th minute, before Chu-Young completed his hat-trick a minute later.

Korea completed the route with two more late goals. First Kim Jung-Woo was on target in the 82nd minute and then a few minutes later Dong-Won added his second of the game.

The win puts South Korea atop group B, and they continue play Tuesday at Kuwait. Lebanon tries to regroup and hosts U.A.E. on the same day.
