Qatar and Iran Share the Spoils

Qatar came from a goal down at home to claim a point against group E favorite Iran in a 1-1 draw.

After a scoreless first half, the match sprung to life just a minute into the second period. Iran took the lead through central defender Hadi Aghily and it appeared the away side would open up a lead on the other teams in the group.

However, less than 10 minutes later Qatar tied the score at one. Striker Mohamed El-Sayed scored his second career international goal for his side. That was the end of the scoring for the match and each team comes away with a well-earned point.

Group E is tight at the top now with Iran and Bahrain sharing the top spot with four points. Qatar is in third with two points because of its two draws against Bahrain and Iran. Indonesia sits bottom after two losses and a negative five goal difference.
